March 21: Equinox Day

21 Mart: Ekinoks Günü

March 21…

It is both the day of the equinox and Nowruz, and also the day when the sun enters the zodiac sign of Aries…

The March 21 spring equinox is when the sun’s rays hit the equator at a 90-degree angle, resulting in zero shadows in this region and equal lengths of night and day.

With this solstice, the transformation of our world’s nature also begins.

The equinox occurs twice a year.

The spring equinox occurs on March 21, while the autumn equinox occurs on September 23, marking the beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere and autumn in the southern hemisphere.

The word “equinox” originates from Latin, derived from the combination of “aequus” (equal) and “nox” (night), and literally means the equality of day and night.

Globally, the term “equinox” is used.

Due to the Earth’s axial tilt, the angle at which sunlight hits the Earth changes throughout the year, resulting in different seasons and climates on our planet.

May the equinox bring beauty, goodness, happiness, peace, and love to our world…

March 21 is also Nowruz Bayramı (Nowruz Festival).

Nowruz (Persian Nouruz/Noruz; in other languages, Nowruz, Navruz, Nooruz, Nevruz, Nauryz) is derived from the Persian words “Nev,” meaning “new,” and “Ruz,” meaning “day.”

It is celebrated worldwide by various peoples as a day to welcome spring and celebrate the awakening of nature, even as a holiday.

It is said that the origins of this tradition date back to ancient times.

Although some sources trace it back as far as fifteen thousand years, it is generally accepted to have a history of three thousand years.

What is certain is that the name Nevruz first appeared in written sources in Persian texts dating back to the 2nd century BC.

On February 23, 2010, the United Nations General Assembly, in its 71st session, adopted Resolution A/RES/64/253, as a result of the draft application and proposal numbered A/64/L.30 submitted by a group of member countries, including Turkey, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Albania, the former Yugoslavia, the Republic of Macedonia, Iran, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

The UN declaration also states that Nowruz has been celebrated by more than 300 million people for over 3,000 years, particularly in Anatolia, the Balkans, the Black Sea region, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East, and other regions.

We know that the history of Nowruz celebrations dates back to ancient times, as stated in every source; however, we would like to emphasize that “March 21st Nowruz Day and Nowruz Festival” has a very different, special, and important meaning and value for the Turkish peoples of Anatolia and Central Asia.

March 21st Nevruz Day is considered the day of the Turks’ (Göktürks’) emergence from Ergenekon…

May our Nevruz Festival be blessed, bringing goodness, beauty, happiness, peace, and love to the entire world…
