IYT International Crew (Basic Sailing Yacht Training)

You're in the right place for basic education!

This is a beginner-level training course: No prior training or practical experience is required.

By the end of this training, which lays the foundations of sailing yachting, participants will have gained knowledge about boat equipment and sailing maneuvers. Our training programs are conducted on sailing yachts ranging from 36 to 50 feet in length.

The age limit for participation is 12, and the age limit for obtaining certification is 18.

Level

Training Format

Practical training is provided.

Practical training consists of 12 hours / 4 days / 3 hours per day of training at sea.

Theoretical training consists of 3 hours.

Our practical training sessions on board the boat are planned for a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 people (excluding the instructor).

License

The International Yacht Training (IYT) license is accredited by 58 countries around the world and is valid for sailing in those countries. In the European Union, it can be used in Croatia and Greece.

You can operate vessels up to 78 feet/24 meters in length.

To apply for the license, you must hold a KMT (Short Range Radio Operator Certificate) or VHF certification.

How can I listen to online courses?

To listen to the online training courses available, visit our website at https://oneyacht.org/en/my-account/, register, and notify the One Yacht training representative. This will enable you to access the relevant files. After they are made available, log in to the site, click on the “My Profile” section under the “My Account” tab, and you can access the training courses made available to you through the “Assigned Training” section on this page.

What are the license and usage conditions that will be given at the end of the training?

The IYT Try Sail license will be issued with the approval of the instructor. The exam, which is part of the training, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays following the last practical training date at the Istanbul, Izmir, and Fethiye One Yacht offices.

The IYT License fee is paid on the day of the exam.

Important Information: The Amateur Sailor’s Certificate must be obtained separately if you own your own boat to sail in Turkish waters. This certificate is issued by the Ministry of Transport. https://adbs.uab.gov.tr/login

Where can I apply for a captain's license?

To apply for an IYT license, you must register on the IYT website and obtain a 6-digit ID via email. This ID is then sent to the One Yacht training officer. You can complete the registration process at the bottom of the page containing the link below. https://www.iytworld.com/students/

What are the requirements for applying for a captain's license?

You must have a KMT (Short Range Radio Operator Certificate) or VHF to apply for a license. These certificates can be obtained from the Ministry of Transport or One Yacht office for 75 euros. What are the payment terms?

You can make your payments in cash, by bank transfer/EFT, or by credit card. Fifty percent of the payment is due on the day of registration, and the remaining fifty percent is due on the first day of training.

 

 

What should I wear for training?

Participants in the training are required to wear white-soled sports shoes or sailing shoes, clothing suitable for sun, rain, and wind, and sailing gloves.
